Drive

If you like road trips there is a lot to see and do along Florida's scenic highways and back road routes to Marathon. From one of the nearby airports (see the "Fly" section), grab a rental car and head down the Overseas Highway. We are about a hour from Key West Airport or two and a half or three hours from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. Enjoy the scenic drive offering picturesque views in every direction. Take your time and stop by historic sites and attractions or have a meal or snack. There are many great places to choose from along the highway in both directions.

If you need to charge an electric vehicle (EV), feel free to plug in during your stay at Sunchasers Paradise. We have Level 1 outlets just inside the garage doors (Level 2 charger upgrade is planned for the near future). There are also Tesla Superchargers at the Marathon airport.

Ride

If you'd rather let someone else handle the driving so you can sit back and relax, there are options. The Keys Shuttle can pick you up from the airport and drop you off right at the doorstep of your vacation rental.

Fly

There are four airports that you can use. Each one has different advantages in terms of airlines, schedules, costs, and distance from Marathon.

• EYW - Key West International Airport: This island-sized airport is just a 45 minute drive to Marathon. Because it's small, there are fewer flights in and out, but it's an easy walk to the rental car parking for a quick get away.
• MIA - Miami International Airport: This airport is as far south as you can fly on the mainland, but it's big with 3 terminals. It will take a little extra time to get to the car rental garage via a 20 minute ride on the MIA Mover.
• FLL - Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport: This is the the airport we prefer. It's a little farther away, but it's smaller and much easier to get in and out of. There's only a few gates and the multi-story car rental garage is connected to the terminal by a walking bridge. It's about a 3 hour drive to Marathon.
• MTH - Florida Keys Marathon International Airport: If you want to get here fast and have the means, you can fly directly to the Marathon Jet Center. The local airport is open to both corporate, private, and charter jets, and has rental cars available right at the small terminal. It's just 2 miles from the house.
