Marathon is a marine-friendly city with lots of water activities! Our vacation rental property offers plenty of parking for your boat and trailer, or one that you rent. Follow the canal out to the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico for fishing, swimming, snorkeling, or diving; you can also tie up at many restaurants to "dock and dine". There are plenty of options to charter a boat and crew, or take a tour with some of the best local guides.
Fishing
Nestled between the blue waters of the Gulf and the mighty Atlantic, Marathon is the perfect place to experience world-class fishing. It is an art form that’s been evolving ever since the town was built, making it a major sportfishing destination today. Deep Offshore, Bay Waters, and Middle Keys Bridge fishing all offer unique opportunities for expert and novice anglers to catch the big one.

Charter fishing trips are available through several local boat captains.
Snorkeling
People travel from all over the world to snorkel in the Florida Keys. No snorkeling destination in the region is more famous than Marathon's own Sombrero Reef. Take your boat or a snorkeling tour and explore the world under the waters of Marathon. No boat, no problem! Some of the best snorkeling in the Florida Keys is said to be found at Sombrero Beach, just minutes from Sunchasers Paradise.
Eco Experiences
Among the islands of Marathon in the Middle Keys are plenty of eco-attractions, trails, and sightseeing spots appealing to any visitor who shares a love of nature and marine environments. The experiences here definitely deserve a place on an eco-enthusiast’s bucket list - so indulge in some (or all!) of them during your Marathon stay.
Sunchasers Paradise has 2 kayaks and beach cruiser bikes to transport you to your eco adventure. You can take a guided kayak eco-tour - on one you'll glide through mangrove caves and learn about the animals that inhabit them.
Scuba Diving
Marathon, an ocean-obsessed town encompassing 13 of the Florida Keys, is the perfect dive hub for reefs and wrecks with fewer crowds than the famed Key West. Glide above the coral alongside the magnificent creatures under the crystal waters that surround the islands.
Join local and visiting divers for Coralpalooza, planned each year around World Oceans Day, recognized internationally on June 8. This event focuses on the preservation and conservation of the continental United States’ only living coral barrier reef that parallels the Florida Keys.
